Establishment Method of Story‑based RC Frame Shear Model Utilizing Empirical Structural Information
An establishment approach for story-based shear models using empirical structural information of RC frame structures is proposed for regional seismic loss estimation. Targeting RC frame structures, the basic design parameters, including structural dimensions and material parameters, and their empirical value ranges are determined. The Latin-Hypercube-Sampling method is adopted to generate samples of story-based structures considering the random combinations of these basic parameters and the parameter uncertainty induced by determining their empirical value ranges. The multi-degree-of-freedom concentrated-mass story-based shear layer model is employed to build RC frame structural model corresponding to story-based structural model samples. The structural seismic responses are obtained by nonlinear dynamic analysis using these structural models. A group of structural damage states is quantificationally defined by a comprehensive analysis of the domestic and foreign codes, and seismic loss of typical RC frame structures is estimated in a case study. It is found that the proposed story-based structural models considering basic parameters, which meet the requirements of the code and are compatible with realistic structures, are available and efficient for the rapid modeling of typical frame structures. The structural seismic responses and seismic loss are consistent with the earthquake damage experience, indicating a high accuracy of the proposed modeling approach.
