  1. Publishing Scope

 

Journal of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering is an academic journal focusing on all aspects of research related to disaster prevention and mitigation engineering. The journal aims to publish cutting-edge academic research papers and applied scientific research achievements worldwide on the extreme effects, damage, anddestructive effects of earthquakes,geotechnical disasters, hurricanes, fire, and explosions on engineering structures and infrastructure systems and measures for disaster prevention and mitigation. We welcome papers in the following areas:

1) Papers across the breadth of disaster prevention and mitigation engineering that (i) provide scientific basis for decision-making on major issues, (ii) report cutting-edge results that prompt new thinking, new theories, or new techniques – work that has broader significance.

2) Papers containing research results supported by national-level funding bodies, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and can be published in special issues.

Publication priority will be given to papers with significant scientific value.

 

The main columns include Original Research Articles, Reviews, Short Articles, Monographs, Conference Papers, Special Columns, Meeting Summaries, and Industry News, etc.

 

  1. Requirement for Manuscripts

 

2.1 Structure

All research article formats generally contain the following sections: title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, Chinese Library Classification (CLC) Code, Document Code, funding sources, introduction, main body, results, references, etc.

 

2.2 Author Details

A manuscript should include the first author’s full name, gender, birth year, professional titles (position), degree, main research area, and email address. It is advisable to provide a contact phone number and a detailed corresponding address.

 

2.3 Title

The Chinese title should not exceed 22 Chinese characters in general and may include a subtitle if necessary.

 

2.4 Abstract

The Chinese abstract should be 400~500 words, fulling reflecting the content of the paper. The main idea, methods used, and main results of the paper shall be included. The abstract should highlight the research focus and innovation of the paper, excluding common sense content and self-evaluation. Formulas, diagrams, serial numbers of references, and contents in the introduction should not appear in abstract. For the convenience of international scholars, an information-rich English abstract, independent of the Chinese abstract, may be written and should be grammatically correct. The English writing standards of Ei-indexed journals can be used as a reference.

 

2.5 Key Word

We encourage authors to include 3 ~ 8 keywords. These keywords should accurately reflect the main content.

 

2.6 Introduction

An effective introduction includes the following elements: (1) a brief historical background of the issue (2) a description of the aim and approaches/technical skills framed in the context; and (3) an indication of the novelties and problems to be solved.

 

2.7 Results

This section should convey information about findings, possible future research directions, or application prospects. Contents from the references should be avoided.

 

2.8 References

References shall not be too few nor too old. Recent publications are recommended. References should be sequentially numbered as they occur in the manuscript, and in-text citations should be written in numbered superscript style and enclosed in square brackets. Chinese references should be followed by English translations.

 

2.9 Figures & Tables & Fonts

  1. Fees

 

Once the manuscript is published, 2 copies of the current issue will be posted to authors, and an APC will be charged for each manuscript at the following standard:

Black/White: RMB 300 per page (1 page including 2 sides)

Color: RMB 800 per page (1 page including 2 sides)

Note: The APC covers the review fee and postage fee.

For articles with significant scientific value, APCs will be waived and publication priority will be given to the articles.

 

  1. Method of Submission

 

The journal only accepts manuscript submissions through the author center on the journal’s website: http://fzjzgcxb.ijournals.cn/fzjzgcxben/author/login. For first-time users, please register first and then follow the instructions:

1) In the “Submission Instruction” column, authors need to briefly introduce the research background, novelties, and scientific significance, which is very important and will directly affect the judgment and selection of the articles.

2) In the “Recommended Reviewers” column, authors are suggested to recommend 3 experts in related areas as reviewers. We also encourage authors to identify experts who have competing interests with them for the editors’ reference.

 

Authors should take sole responsibility for the text and its consequence. Multiple submission is strictly prohibited. The manuscripts must not be confidential. If authors do not receive any feedback within 3 months, it can be deemed as rejected.

 

All manuscripts accepted by the journal will be provided with services from the editorial board including digital reproduction, compilation, distribution, internet dissemination, etc. All benefits from the above services are included in the remuneration.

 

Once the manuscript is accepted, authors will soon receive 3 documents: Copyright Transfer Agreement, Manuscript Processing Comment, and Revision Feedback. Authors will be required to email back the Manuscript Processing Comment, Revision Feedback and the Copyright Transfer Agreement signed by ALL authors. If the manuscript is supported by a fund, a copy or a scanned copy of the supporting document of the fund is required.

 

The accepted manuscript will be arranged for publication by the editorial office, during which the authors will be contacted for several revisions. A proof version (electronic version in pdf format) will be sent to authors about 15 days before publication. Authors will mark the revisions directly on the electronic proof. There should be no major changes except significant problems or errors. This is to avoid affecting the layout. The proofs should be returned within 2 days in order to keep the publishing plan.
