Experimental Study on Dynamic Collapse Performance of Prefabricated RC Frame Substructures
To study the progressive collapse of prefabricated reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures, six 1/4 scale frame substructures were designed and tested by fast removing columns. The influence of several parameters, such as the span to depth ratios of frame beams, the splicing joint positions as well as prestress, on the dynamic collapse performance was investigated. Experimental results show that at the frame beam ends and in the regions of post-poured concrete of the splicing joints for the prefabricated frames appeared a few cracks after the middle column failed. The maximum dynamic displacement response of the monolithic RC frame substructure was smaller than that of the prefabricated frame substructure with the same beam span. After prestress was applied on the frame beams of the prefabricated segments, the dynamic impact of collapse load on the prefabricated frame increased; however, the dynamic responses, including the maximum dynamic displacement and the strain of the longitudinal reinforcing bars at the beam ends, reduced instead. Compared with the monolithic RC frame substructure, the failure of the middle column caused more damage to the prefabricated frames. When the splicing joints of the prefabricated segments moved towards the frame column, the maximum dynamic displacement responses of the prefabricated frames increased. The maximum dynamic increase factors of the displacement and the strain of the reinforcing bars at the beam ends for the prefabricated substructures were 1.39 and 1.62, respectively, which may provide a reference for the determination of the dynamic increase factor of collapse load when the static collapse analysis is conducted on prefabricated RC frame structures.
