The Blocking Performance of Pile⁃group Dam against Debris Flow and Its Influence Factors
The blocking performance and its critical criterion are important factors that should be considered in the design of pile-group dam, however, there are few researches on pile-group dam at home and abroad. The effects of debris flow bulk density, dam row number, row spacing and transverse opening width on the blocking performance of pile-group dam were analyzed by carrying out laboratory tests. The results show there are three blocking types of pile-group dam for intercepting debris flow including total-blocked type, part-blocked type and none-blocked type. The bulk density of debris flow is positively correlated to the blocking rate of dam. The blocking rate increases greatly when the number of pile rows increases from single to double. Row spacing and opening width are negatively correlated to the blocking rate of dam. The empirical formula for calculating the blocking rate of pile-group dam was presented based on experimental data and multiple regression analysis. A critical comprehensive criterion for debris flow blocking performance of pile-group dam was presented. When F≤8.1, the pile-group dam manifests as total-blocked type, and when 8.1<F<27.5, the dam shows part-blocked performance, otherwise the dam is none-blocked.
