This paper investigates the dynamic response and beam-column connection performance of steel frame structures under the combined action of fire and impact load through numerical simulation by finite element software ABAQUS.The influence of three types of beam-column joints including welded connection
flush endplate connection and extended endplate connection on the impact resistance of the frame under different temperatures is examined. The beam mid-span deflection
the displacement to the beam direction at the intersection of the beam and column
the temperature field of steel frame at different temperatures under dead load and fire are compared. Then the combined action of temperature loading and the drop hammer are considered. The joint failure patterns of the frame and critical buckling temperatures of the steel beam are obtained. The development of deflections at the middle span and the impact force are also presented.Numerical results indicate that the impact resistance of frame with extended connection under high temperature is the best.
