The Influence of Over Consolidation Ratio on Thermal Consolidation Properties of Clay
A series of thermal consolidation compression tests were carried out in this paper.The effect of over consolidation ratio(OCR)on the thermal consolidation characteristics of typical soft clay in Ningbo area was studied.The results show that heating may cause settlement or rebound of soft soil.In the case of small OCR
heating will cause soft clay to subside
and the smaller the OCR
the larger the settlement
and the lesser rebound after cooling.When the OCRis large
the heating will cause the expansion of soft soil.The expansion will partially recover after cooling
and the larger the OCR
the greater the recovery.Based on the test results
the empirical relationship of thermal consolidation considering the influence of OCR was fitted.This formula can be used to predict the relationship between strain and temperature of soft soil under different stress conditions.
