Stability Analysis of an Expansive Soil Slope under Rainfall Using the Thrust Line Method
In order to study the stability of expansive soil slope under the impaction of expansive force
the expansive force is added to the traditional landslide thrust method by reasonable assumptions. The calculation formula for landslide stability coefficient of expansive soil slope is obtained. On the basis of the presented formula
the centrifugal model test of an expansive soil slope under rainfall is simulated and calculated
and the feasibility of the method is verified by the comparison between the calculated results and the test results. At the same time
the influence of the expansion force
distribution position and depth of fissures
rainfall duration and rainfall intensity on the stability of the expansive soil slope is analyzed. The results show that the factor of safety of the expansive soil slope significantly reduces when the expansive force is considered under rainfall conditions. When the fissure is in the middle of the slope
the expansive soil slope is more dangerous than that in the top of the slope. The intensity and the duration of rainfall also affect the stability of the expansive soil slopes
but the impact is limited. The method provides a reference for calculation of the stability of expansive soil slope in engineering.
