Study on Permeability of Aquifer by Hydraulic Tomography Inversion in Condition of Adding Flux Data
the spatial distribution of hydraulic conductivity in aquifer can be inversed using hydraulic tomography. During hydraulic tomographic pumping tests
flux measurements are collected and water heads are observed simultaneously
which are input into an inversion model. Consequently
the inversion results
i. e.
hydraulic conductivities of aquifer
are evaluated by adding the flux data in the hydraulic tomographic framework. A 2 D synthetic heterogeneous aquifer of 40 m X 20 m is generated with random distributed hydraulic conductivities by using the software Vsaft2
followed by four groups of numerical pumping tests conducted at different locations. The SimSLE inversion algorithm is utilized to estimate the hydraulic conductivities with(1) only water head data
and(2) both water head and flux data. The results show that under both conditions
the inversion accuracy of the hydraulic conductivities improves with an increasing number of pumping well. However
a better resolution will be achieved when the flux data are used in the inversion process; the improvement of the inversion accuracy is more evident using both water head and flux data. Moreover
in the pumping tests with the same number of pumping wells
the joint inversion using both water head and flux data yields a smaller error than that uses water head data only.
