The tension behavior of one-side bolted T-stub in a fire was investigated by the finite element models(FEMs).The FEMs were verified by the results of tension tests carried out at ambient temperature;the comparison showed that the FEMs could predict the tension behavior of the one-side bolted T-stub accurately.Using the steady state analysis
the effects of T-stub flange thickness and high temperatures on the behavior of bolted T-stub were investigated.During the analysis
the T-stub flange thickness was set as 6 mm
18 mm and 27 mm respectively
and eight different temperatures varying from ambient temperature to 800℃ were considered.In addition
the effect of high temperature was considered through changing the mechanical properties of steel.The failure modes
tension strength and stiffness of T-stub under different flange thicknesses and temperatures were presented
and the tension behavior of one-side bolted T-stub in a fire was obtained eventually.Research results proved that threaded holes could provide enough clamping force in a fire.Hence
the one-side bolted T-stub was suitable for the connection of closed-section steel members such as the connection of steel beam and tubular column.
