Earthquake records with velocity pulse in the near field
which is within a distance less than 20 km to the fault
are collected from the database PEER of the US Pacific Earthquake Research Center. The relationships of peak velocity pulses values and PGV/PGA values with site classification
moment magnitude and fault distance are studied respectively.Total 126 earthquake records with velocity pulses in the near field are extracted from the present PEER database. The list of the 126 earthquake records is given in descending order according to the peak velocity values of the horizontal pulses. The horizontal peak velocity values of the 126 near-field earthquake records are mainly distributed in the range of 30-150 cm/s.Most of the records are from Chi-Chi earthquake
following by the records from sites C and D.The earthquake records with peak velocity pulses larger than 100 cm/s are mainly in sites C and D.These records are mainly collected in earthquakes with moment magnitude above 6.5 and develop in the field less than 10 km to faults. The earthquake records with PGV/PGA values bigger than 0.2 are mainly in the sites C and D.These records are obtained in the earthquakes with moment magnitude above6.5 and within the band less than 10 km to faults
