Study on Vibration Reduction of Cylindrical Reticulated Mega-structures with Viscous Dampers
The cylindrical latticed-intersected-three-dimensional-beam-system reticulated megastructure is selected to research the efficiency of vibration reduction of viscous dampers from the aspects of the distribution of viscous dampers and damping coefficient based on the measurements of the peak values of displacement and acceleration by using time-history method under frequent earthquakes. The efficiency of dampers under rare earthquake is explored combined with the better distribution and coefficient of viscous dampers found above. The calculation results show that the uniform arrangements have higher efficiency of vibration reduction than lumped arrangements. With the increase of damping coefficient
the vibration reduction rate of displacement has the trend of growth which becomes slower. The reduction rate of acceleration increases rapidly with relatively low damping coefficient
while the rate tends to decrease as the damping coefficient increases.Under rare earthquake
the response and the number of yielding bars of structures that takes viscous dampers to control vibration reduction decrease obviously. The result is aimed to provide reference for the design of viscous dampers to reduce the vibration of cylindrical reticulated mega-structure.
