Analysis of the Fluid-solid Interaction in Tailings Pond Based on the Unsaturated Soil Seepage Theory
According to the engineering geology and hydrologic geology conditions of one selected tailings pond
which was built by upstream method
the 3Dfinite element model of this tailings pond was established on the basis of the unsaturated soil seepage theory and the physical and mechanical properties of tailings in the tailings pond.Soil water characteristic curve(SWCC)of the tailings has been studied. The seepage field
the stress field and the fluid-solid interaction of the tailings pond were analyzed. The disciplines of fluid-solid interaction calculation for upstream tailings dam were summarized in this work. Results show that:(1)The average depth of the infiltration line in tailings dam containing fluid-solid interaction is more realistic and reasonable than that of non fluid-solid interaction.(2)In comparison with tailings pond not considering fluid-solid interaction
the positive pore water pressure is greater and the negative pore water pressure is smaller in tailings pond considering the fluid-solid interaction.(3)The maximum Von-Mises stress and maximum shear stress in tailings pond considering fluid-solid interaction are all smaller than that of tailings pond not considering fluid-solid interaction.(4)It only calculates one time to solve the tailings pond considering the continuous fluid-solid interaction
but needs multi coupling calculation steps when considering complete fluid-solid interaction. The precision of obtained results is increased with the coupling calculation times when using complete fluid-solid interaction method. So adopting the complete fluid-solid interaction method is a more appropriate way to analyse the tailings pond
