The coal bunker has a trestle entrance which can directly affect the wind pressure inside the coal bunker and the wind induced interference effects between different coal bunkers. However
there are no clear rules on the design of the size of the trestle entrance. To study this problem
the FLUENT software is adopted to simulate the wind pressure based on the SSTκ-ωturbulence model in computational fluid dynamics(CFD).The effect of trestle entrance’s size on the wind pressure around the entrance
the wind induced interference effects under different wind directions and the effect of entrance’s position on wind pressure of coal bunkers are analysed respectively. The results show that the optimal size of trestle entrance is 4m×4mand the most unfavorable angle between two entrances is 10°.It is also found that there exists a distinct wind induced interference effect between two neighbouring bunkers. The analysis in this paper provides guidance on the design of the trestle entrance which will be helpful in engineering practice.
