Experimental Study on Size Effect of Reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Eccentric Loading
The eccentric compression test was performed on five groups of short columns of different sizes to investigate the size effect of reinforced concrete
the specimens were(200×200)
(400×400)
(800×800)mm respectively.Based on the results of the experiment
the effects of damage characteristics
load capacity
strain of concrete and steel bar under peak load
bending moment
and deformability on eccentricity and size were studied respectively.Study found that yield load
peak load
strain of concrete and deformability were decreasing with increasing of the eccentricity
but the strain of steel bar was increasing. The study also found that the performance was becoming lower with the size increasing and the size effect was obvious.
