Research on Microstructure of Microcapsule Based Self-healing Cementitious Composites
Self-healing cementitious composites were prepared on the basis of the epoxy microcapsules technology.The healing effect of the cement mortar strength was investigated for the microcapsule contents of 3% and 6%.The microstructure of the specimens before and after healing process was analyzed.The damage to the specimens were introduced by applying compression preloading.The pore structure characteristics including pore size distribution and the pore structure parameters of the self-healing mortar specimens were tested by using MIP(Mercury intrusion porosimetry)
BET and XCT(X-ray computerized tomography).By analyzing pore size distribution model of the mortar specimens
the healing effect was obtained on the basis of pore structure parameters.The results showed that for microcapsules content of 3% and 6%
the healing rate was gradually increased.The cumulative pore volume of the healed specimen by BET method was less than that of preloaded one before healing;MIP test results showed the cumulative pore volume of the healed specimen was greater than that of preloaded one before healing.XCT results showed that the cumulative pore volume of the healed specimen was greater than that of preloaded one before healing.These results reflect some improvement in pore size characteristic.
