Comparison of Effects of Sampling Methods on Drained Shear Test Results of Soils
By Comparing the tri-axial consolidation drained shear test results of fine sand
medium sand
silty sand
silt samples under loose and dense state prepared by dry method and moist method
the common character and difference of test results of samples of soils made by dry-sampling method and moist-sampling method were analyzed. The characteristics of stress and strain relation
volumetric strain and effective stress ratio were contrasted.Comparison shows that for four kinds of soil
the results obtained from dry method and moist method are different.Differences of loose samples are more obvious than those of dense samples. The loose samples prepared by moist method present strain hardening and contractibility basically
and yet the dry method samples present strain softening and dilatability. The dense samples prepared by dry method show strain softening and dilatability
and yet the moist method samples present strain hardening and contractibility. The study on shear resistance indexes of different soils finds that the strength indexes of dry method samples are larger than those of moist method samples for four kinds of soil.
