A Comparative Study among Available Design Guidelines for Composite Beams in Fire
followed by a number of comparisons of varying degree of shear connection
load ratios and limit temperatures. In the case of beams designed in full shear connection at room temperature
the difference of the limiting temperature calculated with the three codes is not very large
with the limiting temperature value provided by EC4 being the highest and the one from the British code as the lowest. For composite beams designed with partial shear connection at room temperature
the predicted limiting temperature with the moment capacity method in Chinese code is found to be un-conservative
it is recommended to provide suggestions on the check of shear capacity of shear connectors at fire limit state. Also
the predicted limiting temperature with the limiting temperature method in Chinese code is found to be overconservative
the application of this method is suggested to be limited with all the beams designed as full shear connection at room temperature.
