With the development of economic construction and the extension of cities in China
more infrastructures are built in some mountainous areas with complicated geological conditions
such as topography and geomorphology.Due to the limitation of some natural conditions like steep terrain and deep-cutting gorge
the engineering with high embankment does not possess the sloping conditions. So
it is emergent to solve the problem of the stability of high embankment. The reinforced earth-retaining wall with geo-grids has special grid structure
which can strongly embed and occlude soil particles. As a result
this structure becomes more and more widely used in the high-embankment engineering. With the application and popularization of reinforced earthretaining wall with geo-grids
its design theories lag behind the practical engineering. The paper establishes the calculation theories based on FEM strength reduction and conducts model experiment to testify the theories.Through the engineering of a certain airport
the paper also proves the feasibility of reinforced earth-retaining wall with geo-grids and the reliability of conducting the calculation on the basis of FEM strength reduction.
