Application of New Linear Analysis Method for Structures with Energy Dissipation Devices
Restricted by computer programs with or without damper elements in structural analysis of energy dissipation devices under frequent and rare earthquakes
there are no proper linear analysis methods to solve the problem for now.At present
analysis methods for structures with energy dissipation devices are mainly the dynamic history analysis and elastic-plastic dynamic history analysis. These two methods are difficult to use in analyzing the structures with energy dissipation devices and is more time-consuming.Referring to the standard FEMA 356 of USA
this paper puts forward a new "Equivalent Linear Analysis Method" for structures with energy dissipation devices based on the building code of China(GB 50011-2010).This paper also presents a new substitute model of damper analysis
which can effectively simulate the behavior of dampers during strong earthquakes using the effective plastic hinge. These methods can not only simplify and shorten the complex procedures during analyzing the structures with energy dissipation devices but also avoid the restriction of computer programs. The proposed method enables the engineers to analyze the structural behavior on the programs without damper elements and consequently accelerates the application of energy dissipation technology. In addition
this paper shows the example using the new method for analysis of building with energy dissipation devices to prove its feasibility.
