Performance Study on Ring Damper under Different Constitutional Parameters
Thirteen different models were designed to study the bearing capacity and the hysteretic performance of the ring damper installed in the braced frame. The constitutional parameters of the ring damper included the thickness of the ring plate
the diameter of ring
the angle of the brace
the weaken form and the weaken depth. All models were carried out in numerical simulation by ABAQUS.The analysis results showed that the ring damper had stable and full hysteretic curve
and posed excellent energy dissipation capacity. The initial stiffness and yield capacity of the ring damper improved with the thickness of the ring damper plate increased or the diameter of the ring decreased. The performance of the ring damper was influenced by the angle between brace and beam
and the angle should be about 45°.When the plate of the ring damper weakened partly
the ring damper showed better energy dissipation capacity.Compared with strip-weakened
the arc-weakened form was more reasonable for the ring damper
and the weakened depth of the ring plate should be controlled at 20%~30% of the ring plate width.
