Buckling-restrained Brace(BRB) is a novel and excellent component for energy dissipation and vibration reduction.In this paper
the construction and theory of BRB were introduced
and BRB was divided into concrete-restrained
all-metallic and assembled types based on restrained materials.The state-of-the-art of each type of the BRB was shown respectively.The types and performance of BRB were presented.The analysis methods of buckling-restrained brace frame(BRBF) and testing methods for substructure of BRBF were summarized.Engineering application and standardization of BRB were recommended.At the end of this paper
the problems with research on and application of BRB were pointed out
and the suggestion for future study on and application of BRB was provided.
