In order to study the seismic response of multistory masonry building supported by RC frames considering the effects of infill walls
a numerical model of a typical multistory masonry building supported by RC frames including infill walls was established with the finite element method and the elastic-plastic seismic response analysis for this model was performed.Based on the numerical results of different mo-dels
the stiffness and strength of the infill walls
the seismic behavior of the building considering the effects of infill walls
such as the natural cycle frequency of the building
the deformation
the damage of the first frame and the interactions between the infill walls and the first frame were analyzed. The numerical results show that the infill walls produce obvious influences on the seismic response of the building which can′t be ignored. In the condition of the same super structure and seismic load
the cycle frequency of the building decreases with the infill walls′ stiffness increasing
the deformation decreases and the damage of the first frame increases with the connection between infill walls and the first frame increasing. When the connection between infill walls and the first frame was weak
the deformation and the aseismic capability of the frame increase by using the high strength infill walls.
