Three-dimensional numerical simulations of both steady and transient states were used to analyze the smoke control effect of fires in a tunnel with smoke extracting gallery
and the spreading characteristics and control effect of the smoke were evaluated for cases of several smoke extracting schemes and different number of smoke draft tuyeres.Based on the evaluation
two ventilation schemes for the smoke control of fires have been recommended after the validation of their feasibility from the safety viewpoint of people’s evacuation.The simulation study in this paper may provide a theoretical foundation for engineering design of fire smoke control and emergency ventilation for tunnels with smoke extracting gallery
and guide the safe evacuation and rescue of people and property in an accident of fires.
