Numerical Analysis of Fluid-Solid Coupling of the Underground Liquid-Storage Tanks Subjected to the Ground Shock Induced by Explosions
The properties of earthquake-resistance of liquid-storage tanks have been investigated intensively.However
little attention is paid to the properties of blast-resistance of liquid-storage tanks
especially under the ground shock induced by explosions.In order to obtain a better understanding of dynamic response of the underground liquid-storage tanks subjected to the ground shock induced by explosions
numerical analysis of liquid and solid coupling is carried out in this paper.The analyses focus on the height of sloshing wave
the stress and the strain of the tank wall
the uplifting of the base plate and the causes and mechanism of the Elephant Foot phenomenon of floating tanks.The analytical results indicate that dynamic responses of the underground liquid-storage tanks subjected to the ground shock induced by explosions are quite different from that under earthquake loading and the frequently-used calculation method which is derived from the investigative results of earthquake actions is not suitable for the case of ground shock induced by explosions.
