To solve the methane problems arising from mining coal seams

studies are performed of effective procedures to mine the multiple protective layers

and field experiments at Xinzhuangzi mine are conducted in mining protective layers of the same coal seam.By means of analyzing numerous parameters obtained from the field experiments

the protection effects are evaluated and the protection scope and related parameters are reasonably determined.It is shown that the danger of outbursts have been evidently eliminated with the proposed procedure.This study helps to advance the theory of protective layers mining and is of reference value to mining under similar conditions.
