Tunnel security is a key problem that concerns the human′s life and property.Monitoring the state of tunnel structural health in time is the precondition of ensuring tunnel security.Therefore
the definition of Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring was presented in this paper
by combining the definition of Structural Health Monitoring(SHM) and characteristics of tunnel structures.According to the definition of Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring
a Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring System(TSHMS) was established with three functions of monitoring
diagnosis and state evaluation.The principle and application of three fiber optic sensors
especially their effect on the TSHMS
were also presented in details.We can believe that as the representative of new sensing technology in Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring
fiber optic sensing technology will provide a lasting technical foundation for building up the Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring System.
