State-of-the-Art Review on Simplified Procedures for Evaluation of Seismically-Induced Sliding Deformation of Earth Structures
For the earth structures and foundations subjected to earthquake shaking
a certain sliding movements or permanent deformations will be initiated by the transient and/or cyclic loading induced by earthquake. The amount of the seismically-induced irrecoverable sliding movements or residual deformations is a key parameter for evaluating aseismic stability of earth structures. In the paper
a state-of-the-art review on this special issue is systematically made and then the instructive comments are given for the various procedures for assessment of the sliding movements and permanent deformations and the applicable conditions of these methods. The suggestions for the further advanced study on this topic are presented.
