The aseismic design of the PL19-3 oilfield in Bohai Sea is carried out according to the American codes
whose seismic design criterion and parameters differ to a definite degree form those of the Chinese codes. In this paper
based on the seismo-tectonic and seismicity environment of Bohai Sea and its adjacent regions along with drilling data and soil dynamical tests of the engineering site
the seismic design parameters of the oilfield are confirmed by the method of the American technical codes. The results have been used in the seismic design of engineering construction
and also of important value for other engineering constructions in oceanic areas. Especially
the soil dynamical parameters in the study are characteristic and representative. This study is expected to promote further researches into seismic technical codes and design criterion of ocean engineering in China
and provide basic data and analytical method for future seismic zoning of Chinese oceanic area.
