Rockfill has significant characteristics of particle breakage and 3Dshape
the influence of these characteristics on material’s strength and deformation characteristics can not be ignored.In order to isolate the influence of particle breakage and 3Dshape characteristics on rockfill’s strength and deformation characteristics
crystal ball was used to simulate rockfill
and analysis of the influence of particle fabric on strength and deformation characteristics was carried out on the basis of medium-sized triaxial apparatus.The test results show that:crystal ball can approximately simulate the strength and deformation characteristics of rockfill in the condition of no particle breakage.Particle breakage has less influence on strength than volume strain;Peak strength increases with the increase of particle diameter
and volume strain decreases with the increase of particle diameter;In the condition of similar void ratio
the change of particle gradation has little influence on strength
but it influences obviously on volume strain
and small particle incorporation helps to optimize the gradation and control the dilatancy deformation.
