Based on the site investigation of Yardang area where the new local railway of Yuqia(Hongliu)to Yiliping in Qinghai Province passes through
a classification of the Yardangarea has been made in terms of their forms and sediment characteristics in the area.Using high-density surface wave exploration
the shallow(0

0m)underground structure distribution has been obtained.The area of construction site is classified as class II by considering survey results of shear wave velocity and thickness of overburden distribution.Moreover
through strong vibration test of main type of railway embankment construction
the vibration attenuation laws of acceleration of compacted embankment and the safe distance not to exert the influence of compacted embankment construc
tion on Yardang has been obtained
and the safe distance is 33 mfrom the vibration source.
