The shaking table model test of earth-rockfill dam is one of important way to recognize the earthquake damage process and test the effects of seismic measures for dams.In this paper
a series of small scale shaking table model tests were carried out by using two different materials under different loading and reinforcement conditions. The results show that:(1)The initial damage of model dams of two different materials both start from the top of the dams
which indicates that the top of the dam is the key part of the seismic design
this is in line with existing research basically.(2)Although the broken stones have a poor gradation
its model dams are superior to the sandy gravels ones under the same loading conditions
it indicates that the properties of rockfill materials have a larger influence on the earthquake resistance of dams.(3)Seismic measure composed of fine steel mesh-gauze and wrapping at the dam slope is superior to other measures such as spread flat gauze
spread flat gauze and wrapping at the dam slope
spread flat fine steel mesh. The research provides reference basis for the resistant design and choice of materials of large-sized shaking table model tests.
