Strength reduction elastoplastic finite element method is often used for slope stability analysis
but this method is seldom used in the stability analysis of landfills.In this paper
the stability of the landfill with liner system is analyzed by the elasto-plastic finite element method. In addition
the stability of the landfill based on the strength reduction finite element method is finally verified by comparing with the limit analysis method.The analysis results of the two methods are basically the same.It shows that for the landfill with liner system
the factor of safety the increases with the increase of landfill length and finally reaches a certain value.Along with the rising of the landfill length
the failure mode of landfill transits from the translationtranslation combined failure mode into the rotation-translation combined failure mode.The result obtained by the strength reduction finite element method and the upper bound limit analysis method are similar.
