In order to reduce the cost of discarding or improving high liquid limit soil
the fundamental characteristics of high liquid limit soil are studied through the indoor tests
and the construction properties and quality control parameters are researched based on field reclamation test.It is shown that high liquid limit clay and sand-carrying high liquid limit clay can be used directly as embankment filling.The construction quality can be assured by controlling the parameters of water content
degree of compaction
and air rate.The basic required water content for construction should satisfy the equation of-2%≤w-wop≤6% and the degree of compaction should be greater than 90%.The air rate of high liquid limit clay should be in the range of 4% to 8% while the air rate of sand-carrying high liquid limit clay should be no more than 13%.
