The response of the reinforced concrete shear wall under quasi-static load and dynamic load with high strain rate are analyzed using the ABAQUES/Explicit module in finite element software ABAQUES.The results of high strain rate are compared with those of quasi-static to study the effects of strain rate on dynamic behavior of reinforced concrete shear wall. Results show that the dynamic behavior of concrete and steel changes greatly when the strain rate effects are taken into account. For reinforced concrete shear wall subjected to dynamic load
there is an increase in load carrying capacity and stiffness. The strain rate effects should be considered properly in the seismic analysis of reinforced concrete structures.
