Based on detailed considerations on the characteristics of rock mass in slopes of magmatic and metamorphic rocks

4 categories including 7 subcategories were classified in detail for rock mass structures in slopes of magmatic rocks according to not only rockmass size of magmatic rocks and whether structure joints exist or not but also the characters of magmatic rocks with loose slopes.Similarly

5 categories including 11 subcategories were classified for rock mass structures in slopes of metamorphic rocks.The classification of the rock mass structures in this paper offers a basis for the study of slope stability

the control of slope failures

and the evaluation of slope engineering.
