Abstract
A double-layer cylindrical reticulated shell of 100m span was selected as a research object to analyze its dynamic behaviors subjected to seismic excitations of one and three-dimensional wave passage effects with the time history method
including many cases of apparent wave velocities. The characteristics of the distribution of element forces under those seismic motions have been examined to compare and contrast the different situations
which provides a theoretic foundation for the ascismic design of long-span structures. The results show that the stresses of some members increase if considering the wave passage effect
and the internal forces of structural members under the multi-dimensional seismic excitation are larger than that under one-dimensional seismic excitation. Some conclusions have been drawn that the seismic analysis with non-uniform excitations of multi-dimensional seismic motions must be performed for the long-span spatial reticulated shell structures
and a comprehensive analysis should be carried out for possible traveling wave velocities to make ensure the seismic safety.
